NICHOLAS CALLAWAY, FOUNDER & CEO

Nicholas Callaway is an internationally renowned publisher, app developer, television producer, brand creator, art gallerist, writer, photographer and teacher with more than 40 years at the leading edge of contemporary media and design. He is the Founder and CEO of Callaway Arts & Entertainment, a content-driven, intellectual property creation and production company across all media platforms, with headquarters in New York City. CA&E specializes in print-based and e-books, computer-animated television series, mobile and tablet applications, and trend-forward, design-driven lifestyle brands. 

Callaway is now combining his lifetime of media mastery in his company’s newest, most innovative move into the future of media with the Callaway Nomadic Museum: immersive, interactive experiences that will reach a global audience, launching in 2021.

MANUELA ROOSEVELT, VICE PRESIDENT, ASSOCIATE PUBLISHER, EDITORIAL DIRECTOR

Manuela Roosevelt joined Callaway Arts & Entertainment as Director in 2014. In her 30-year publishing career, she has published more than 300 illustrated non-fiction titles encompassing the sciences, history, biography, current affairs, art history, and gift titles, including Prof. Stephen Hawking’s multi-million copy bestsellers The Illustrated Brief History of Time and The Universe in a Nutshell (translated into 38 languages). She is the Chair of the Board for the Eleanor Roosevelt Partnership at Val-Kill, New York. She also serves on the Board of Directors of the Omega Institute for Holistic Studies, America's foremost center for retreat and personal development that hosts 30,000 workshop participants annually. She additionally serves on the Board of the Sustainability Laboratory, an institute dedicated to international environmental projects, including the much-awarded Wadi Attir Project in the Negev Desert. She obtained her B. A. in Social Anthropology from the School of Oriental and African Studies, London University. She speaks English, Italian, Spanish, Catalan, and French fluently.  Manuela and her family live on the Springwood estate in New York’s Hudson River Valley, the home of Franklin D. Roosevelt.

TOPER TAYLOR, CHIEF STRATEGIC & BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT OFFICER

Toper Taylor brings to Callaway’s decades of experience in entertainment production, publishing, finance, distribution/sales, marketing, licensing, digital media, and branded consumer products.

Toper served as President/COO of Nelvana [now Corus Entertainment (CJREF)], as President/COO of Cookie Jar Entertainment [now WildBrain Ltd. (WLDBF)], and as President of Network of One. He was also a talent agent at the William Morris Agency. 

As a producer of family entertainment, Toper has produced over 15,000 episodes of television and won several Emmy Awards. Some of Toper’s most acclaimed productions include Arthur, Caillou, Rolie Polie Olie, Max and Ruby, Beetlejuice, Franklin the Turtle, Richard Scarry’s Busytown Mysteries, Maurice Sendak’s Little Bear, Beyblade, Strawberry Shortcake, Brian Jacques’ Redwall, Johnny Test, and Miss Spider’s Tea Party.

Toper holds a BA and MHA degrees from the University of Southern California where he has served as Chairman of the USC Roski School of Fine Art and where he won the President’s Award for Volunteerism. He is a collector of great wine and a competitive golfer.

TOSHIYA MASUDA, CREATIVE DIRECTOR 

Toshiya is from Tokyo, Japan. He graduated from the Parsons School of Design with a B.A. Since graduation, Toshiya worked as a graphic designer for Callaway Editions, Callaway Arts & Entertainment, and Callaway Digital Arts. Toshiya has spent more than 30 years at Callaway collaborating with world-renowned creators in multiple media and fields. He excels at combining the artistic and technological skills accumulated over the decades of his work for the company. Toshiya brings unique creative talent to the creation of new experiences in the digital world.

He enjoys traveling to destinations off the beaten path including Sudan, Syria and Gambia. He has a black belt in Karate.  

 

JAE LEE, DIRECTOR - DIGITAL MARKETING 

Jae brings a rich and varied experience to Callaway, with over 26 years of media, technology, product, and creative design experience. Jae has played a key leadership role in managing the delivery of numerous award-winning campaigns, sites, products, and content for online, messenger, mobile, and social networks platforms.

He served as Creative Operation at American Greetings, Senior Producer for Disney, managing Disney.com along with all Disney’s Digital Ad Sale Production, and Executive Producer at multiple agencies.

Jae is an active member of the Producers Guild of America and has won numerous awards at Disney and American Greetings for Top Marketing Campaigns and Innovations. He graduated with a BA in Architecture from the New Jersey Institute of Technology.

JERRY KELLY, DESIGNER & LETTERER

Jerry Kelly is a calligrapher, book designer, and type designer working in New York City. His work has been honored numerous times, including awards from the Type Director’s Club and the Society of Typographic Designers. Kelly has written many articles, as well as several books, on calligraphy and typography, including Artist and Alphabet (The American Institute of Graphic Arts & David R. Godine, 2000), A Century for the Century (The Grolier Club, 2000), The Art of the Book in the Twentieth Century (RIT, 2011), and The Noblest Roman: The Centaur Types of Bruce Rogers (co-authored with Misha Beletsky; winner of the 2016 Bibliographical Society of America Prize for best work on a bibliographical subject). 

Before starting his own design firm in 1998, Kelly was Vice President of The Stinehour Press, Vermont. Since 1977 he has maintained a small fine-printing operation, The Kelly-Winterton Press. In addition, he has taught at The Pratt Institute, Parsons School of Design, the Society of Scribes, and other groups and institutions, and he has lectured widely.

IVAN WONG, PRODUCTION MANAGER

Ivan is from San Diego, California and received his BFA from the University of California Los Angeles. Ivan attended the MLS program at Columbia University and, prior to working in publishing, was the Head of Access Services for the Business and Social Science Libraries at Columbia University. Ivan has worked as the Production Manager for print and digital publishing for Callaway Editions, Callaway Arts & Entertainment, and Callaway Digital Arts, working with such companies as Apple, The New York Times, Knopf, and Condé Nast.

JASON BROWN, GRAPHIC DESIGNER & PRODUCTION MAESTRO

A photographer, writer, collaborative artist and early member of the New York City-based art collective Flux Factory, Jason Brown works as a graphic designer and photographer based in New York City and Portland, Maine. With a twenty-five year history in print-based design and production ranging from textbooks to magazines and everything in between, he is currently the Design Director at the history journal Lapham’s Quarterly and contributes design in both print and digital form to Callaway Arts & Entertainment.
